COL JS DHILLON, SM**, the thirteen Principal of army Officer from the Regiment of ‘The Grenadiers’. A distinguished mountaineer and skier he was the first Indian to climb the virgin Saser Kangri IV along with the British team in 1987. He along with Brig DK KHULLAR of 84 Everest fame was invited by the British army to UK to give presentation on Himalayan Climbing at Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. His name also figures in the Limca Book OF World Records for leading the most challenging Indian Attempt on Kamet from West face. He has participated in more than 18 Expeditions and set many new records of technical and altitude climbing by the NCC. As a joint Director of Army Adventure Wing he conducted some of the most stimulating army activities including the successful attempt on Annapurna, Lhotse and Everest. He was actively associated with ‘mission Everest’, an adventure awareness programme on National Geographic Channel. In the army he conceived an army women expedition to Mt. Everest. he not only selected and trained a versatile army women team but also set a new world by putting the fist services women team atop 7355m Abi Gamin. Four women of the summitted Mt. Everest in 2005.

Col Dhillon is not only a mountaineer but also a versatile soldier adventurer who has also participated in white water rafting, hot air ballooning, parasailing and skiing. As a principal he has undertake many new initiatives to transform the concept of mountain training with new innovative techniques, he plans to incorporate trainees from SAARC countries and underprivileged youth of the nation in various courses of HMI.
